Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint Review

Updated: Apr 14, 2020

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint (commonly referred to as Ghost Recon Breakpoint) is an online tactical shooter video game. The game is the eleventh installment in the Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon franchise and is a narrative sequel to the 2017 video game Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands.

Breakpoint is set in an open world environment called Auroa, a fictional island in the Pacific Ocean. The player takes on the role of Lieutenant Colonel Anthony "Nomad" Perryman, a special forces operative sent to the island to investigate a series of disturbances involving Skell Technology, a military contractor based on Auroa.

Our very own, Winiata Paul (Control Gaming Aus/NZ long time member, and Moderator) had this to say about his first 2 hours of gameplay:

"So 2 hours in, and all I can say coming from a Division player, is this game really is something else! Each encounter has required alot of sensory skills and awareness of the field of play you are truly valuable in encounters (Not 'God like', we can't stay in the open and face tank guys like in The Division). This game is very unforgiving and will lay your arse on the floor. The shooting is realistic and almost like out of a movie. When you take on Outposts, you can't try to be the Terminator and go in Rambo style, you will be coughing bullets whilst on the floor. One thing I hate are the drones and helicopter fly bys and overpasses Jesus talk about excessive for a island!!! I can say I'm enjoying so far! This will be fun for players that like tactical shooters and teamplay not so much for run and gun style player base."
