**UPDATED 9th of September 2020 11:28pm AEST to add in confirmed pre-order date for Xbox Series X / S

We have just received confirmation that EB Games stores have been instructed that pre-orders for both the PlayStation 5 & Xbox Series X/S will take place online only.
Pre-orders that are placed online still have the option to either be delivered to a preferred physical address, or picked up in store. All online pre-orders for both next gen consoles will require a $200 deposit online and will be restricted to one per customer.
This decision has been made by EB Games to ensure that all customers have a fair go in pre-ordering their console of choice and also to assist with social distancing. We are of the understanding that their websites have received an upgrade in anitcipation of an influx of pre-orders for both consoles.
We still have no confirmation of when pre-ordering for either console will go live, but with the announcement of the Xbox Series S (and a confirmed launch date), no doubt pre-orders should be going live in the very near future.
All of us in the office agree that a larger deposit and placing limits on pre-orders is a good move as it will deter scalpers. Going online will also allow for easier stock management and to ensure that people don't miss out, due to over-ordering at another store.
**With confirmation now, of September 23rd 2020 for Xbox Series X / S, PlayStation surely will be ready to releasing further news on their console in the very near future.
